Personality · birth
The 88° are the arc the Sun travels through the zodiac until birth; they are not 88 days. In this teaching, the arrival of the Personality Crystal coincides with the Design imprint. The imprint called Personality is fixed later, at birth.
It follows Ra Uru Hu’s teaching on the Design and Personality Crystals and the Magnetic Monopole.
The example chart is real. The planetary positions are calculated for every moment of the pregnancy. The Design moment, 88° of solar arc before birth, and the moment of birth are exact. The date of conception is approximate: about 38 weeks before birth.
The gates, channels and centers that light up as the planets pass are only the transit. They are not part of the chart: the chart is fixed by two instants.

A continuous stream of neutrinos passes through everything that exists.
It is born in the Sun. It passes through the planets, the Earth, your body.
Each planet leaves its information in it. In Human Design, this is the Program.
Every human being carries a Personality Crystal, a Design Crystal and a Magnetic Monopole.
In this teaching, “crystals” names two filters of consciousness: Design and Personality. Each receives the Program in a unique way.
Design Crystals come from inside the Earth. Personality Crystals wait outside the form, in the atmosphere.
At conception the Design Crystal arrives. With it, the Monopole.
The Monopole holds the crystals together and sustains the illusion of being separate from everything else.
According to this teaching, the Monopole guides us towards people and situations throughout life.
For about six months, two thirds of the pregnancy, the Design Crystal builds the body.
Ra Uru Hu describes this stage as the building of the form, before the arrival of Personality.
Meanwhile, the Program keeps passing through. Each planet lights up a gate.
When two gates join, a channel lights up and, with it, two centers. Only while the transit lasts.
The Design moment is calculated when the Sun has 88° left to travel to its position at birth.
According to Ra Uru Hu, the Personality Crystal then arrives. Its arrival coincides with the Design imprint.
This first imprint is called Design: the planetary positions associated with the body, fixed at that instant.
The Program keeps passing through. The Sun travels the remaining 88° to birth.
At birth, a second imprint: the Personality. What the mind recognizes as “I”.
Design and Personality, overlaid, form the chart.
